Is it Time to Hire? Find Out How to Effectively Outsource for Your Blog

It is no secret that blogging is a lot of work. There have been several times in my blogging journey where I have wanted to just throw in the towel. I was spending WAY to much time on my computer without getting ahead. It was stressful.

Throughout the years I have learned a lot about how and when I work best and how I can prevent blogger burnout. It was a process to figure out my strengths and weaknesses when it came to blogging. I knew that I wanted to build something much bigger than I was capable of doing by myself. To say the least, I needed help. It was time to outsource.

Fast forward to today and I am proud to say that I effectively outsource blogging tasks to help me reach my business goals. In the past I would try to hire people to save me time, but in the end I would end up going back over the work they did.

I know a lot of you are probably thinking that outsourcing is not even an option because of your blog’s budget. Especially if you are just starting out, you may not have any extra funds to pay someone else let alone yourself.

From my experience, I held out for a long time when it came to hiring people to help me on my blog. Not only was I afraid of who I could trust, but my blog was not making a lot of money that I could give to someone else. I honestly wish I would not have held off for so long. Hiring a virtual assistant and other people to complete particular tasks help me to take my blog to the next level. Outsourcing can help you to reach that next goal because you can focus your efforts elsewhere rather than doing every single day-to-day task for your blog.

Now that I have two blogs it is more important than ever that I do not waste the limited amount of time that I do have to work on my blogs.

I have people who help me schedule tasks, contribute content and even promote my posts.  Plus, they are all extremely affordable. Below you will find my tips to help you effectively outsource for your blog.

Job Description – take the time to map out each position you would like to outsource. Write a clear job description with duties and daily tasks. Not only will this help you to focus on what you need, but it will help the person who you hire understand what is expected of them.

Budget – figure out how much money you are able and willing to pay someone to work for your blog. Try to figure out an hourly rate or a per-job rate for each description you listed from above.

Training – this is one of the most important steps of outsourcing. You need to be as clear and detailed as possible and offer step-by-step instructions when hiring someone to work for your blog. Even if they have experience you will want to go over your expectations and what works best for your website. This will help you to save time in the future. This can be done with training manuals or even videos.

Painting a clear picture of what you want and expect from the beginning will help to alleviate future stress and problems. So, you are probably wondering where you can find reliable people to hire.

Well, I recommend starting with sites like Upwork {formerly Odesk}. You can browse through their categories and hire a range of people including web developers, virtual assistants, graphic designers, writers, consultants and even accountants. This site will also allow you to see how other people have rated them and their hourly rate. You can compare portfolios to find the best people to suit your needs. I have also hired some really great people through job postings in Facebook groups.

You may not be at the point yet where you are even considering outsourcing, but I recommend not completely taking it off the table. You may be surprised with the little amount of money that you can pay to have someone complete tasks for you. Not only will help you to increase productivity, but it will also be a lot less stressful knowing you do not have to do ever single part of your blog.
