Fun & Inexpensive Things Your Family Can Do This Summer

Fun and Inexpensive Things Your Family

Can Do This Summer

So your kids are out of school and you are wondering what to do this summer to keep them entertained and out of trouble. But this summer money is tight and you need to find creative ways to have fun, while keeping costs down. Here are some fun and inexpensive things that you and your family can do together this summer.

Swimming is Fun

Do you have a recreation center or a public park nearby that offers outdoor swimming? Gather up the kids for an afternoon of fun. Let them swim for a while and at the same time you can relax and soak up some sun. And remember your sunscreen.

Do a Family Picnic

Family picnics are a wonderful way to enjoy a nice summer day without spending much money. Make some sandwiches, and pack them with ice along with some fresh fruit and cut up fresh vegetables. Grab some water and a nice blanket and you are set to go.

Outdoor Plays

Some cities have parks that do a series of outdoor plays every afternoon or evening. If you are not already familiar with one, do some searching online or ask your friends. These are always very entertaining for the whole family.

Gather the family up and play Frisbee, volleyball, croquet, badminton, and so on. You can either play in your yard, or again you can find a nice park close by. This is a great way to ensure that everyone is getting out and enjoying the summer months.

Host an Ice Cream Party

Work with your kids to come up with a short guest list, and host an ice cream party one afternoon in your kitchen or backyard. Buy different flavors of ice cream, some hot fudge syrup, sprinkles and a couple of cans of whip cream, and let everyone make their own ice cream sundae treats. Enjoy!

  1. I love these tips Sicorra! As a matter of fact my daughter took my grandson swimming for the first time and he loved it. He woke up with a tan line she said LOL 🙂

I love the idea of an ice cream party. Making sundaes and banana splits is a great way to cool off.

I’m not at all sporty so that I’d leave for my husband 🙂 I’m more of a spectator LOL.
