I love this tradition! You can put as many items or as few items as you like. Depending on the ages of your children the items will var. We did this with our boys last year and they absolutely LOVED it.

I am very excited for them to open each of their boxes. I put one together so far to share with all of you. I just used a regular box that I would use to wrap gifts in. Then, I picked out a few inexpensive items for each of my kids and placed them into the box.

Christmas Eve Box:

  • Pajamas
  • Christmas Movie
  • Christmas Book
  • Popcorn
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Juice

My kids are young so these items are perfect. The best part is you can find inexpensive items or gather things that you already have in your house like the snacks. Since the holiday comes the next day this does not have to be anything extravagant. I wanted to give my kids small items that we could enjoy together as they got ready for Santa’s arrival.

I normally try to pick out matching pajamas for my boys so that I can snap a few pictures both on Christmas Eve and on Christmas morning.

They will be so excited about opening a gift the night before Christmas. Here are some other suggestions for your kids Christmas Eve Box.

  1. I am going to make up a Christmas eve box for each of my 4 children this year. I always do the pyjamas anyway but wanted to do something extra this year. So far, I have got them an Xmas mug each with a hot chocolate sachet, some marshmallows to go on top of the hot chocolate, a candy cane, a small bag of cookies and pyjamas. I.hope they will like them

  2. I have this the last few years and my son always looks forward to it. I use a red, Christmas themed box (the one we store his Christmas ornaments in) with white tissue paper. I find either Christmas pajamas or pajamas of what he likes, rainbow hot cocoa (from Wal-Mart), popcorn, and a classic Christmas movie (from when we were kids). He gets a bath first, then into his pajamas. We make and drink the cocoa. Afterwards, we pop the popcorn and put in the movie.

  3. Hi I decided to make Christmas Eve boxes for my nieces and their family and my sister. They all have new PJ’s for the children and the grown ups with fun Christmas socks for the men. Then it looks as if it’s pretty much the same as all the other ideas, a DVD, popcorn, and letter mugs with chocolate and a miniature of Brandy for the grown ups!! Hopefully this will become something they remember from Aunty Liz and it can become a bit of a tradition. I have really enjoyed making them up.
